Best AI Tools for Garages and Dealerships 2026

A verified 2026 guide to AI tools for garages and dealerships: scheduling, digital vehicle inspection, communication, estimating and voice agents.

The best AI tool for a workshop depends on which bottleneck you have. If the phone is the problem, a voice agent pays back first. If technicians find work that advisors fail to sell, a digital inspection tool does. This guide names real products in each category, with facts from the vendors' own sites and industry reports checked in September 2026.

Quick map

| Category | Tools | Built for | | --- | --- | --- | | Scheduling and shop management | Xtime, Shopmonkey, Tekmetric, AutoLeap | Dealers (Xtime); independent shops (the rest) | | Digital vehicle inspection | AutoVitals, Autoflow, Tekmetric | Selling the work technicians find | | Customer communication | Kimoby, Podium, Autoflow | Texting, inbox, status updates | | Estimating | CCC ONE, Mitchell, Solera Qapter | Collision estimates from photos | | Voice agents | Brons, Stella Automotive AI, Numa Voice AI, Brooke.ai, AutoLeap AIR | Answering and booking the phone |

Scheduling and shop management

Xtime, part of Cox Automotive, covers scheduling, check-in, inspections and service marketing for franchise dealers; its customer list includes 29 automakers, and Cox reports 174 additional repair orders per month for dealers using it. Shopmonkey says more than 8,000 shops use its estimates, invoicing, inspections, payments and messaging. Tekmetric's plans start at $199 per month with digital inspections in every tier and online booking in a $345 per month marketing add-on. AutoLeap bundles shop management, inspections, scheduling and two-way texting, and adds AutoLeap AIR, an AI receptionist that answers and captures customer and vehicle details.

Digital vehicle inspection

A digital inspection turns what the technician sees into photos and a text the customer can approve from their phone. AutoVitals offers a guided mode so every inspection follows the same steps, integrates with Tekmetric, Mitchell 1, NAPA TRACS and Protractor, and claims 76 percent more approved work than paper inspections when its best practices are followed. Autoflow pairs inspections with two-way texting and workflow through more than 15 shop management integrations.

Customer communication

Kimoby's Dealership Engagement System combines texting on the repair order, estimates approved by text, payments, CSI surveys and DMS write-back for CDK, Reynolds and Reynolds, Tekion, PBS and Keyloop; more than 1,000 dealerships across North America use it. Podium serves more than 60,000 businesses in several industries with an AI Employee that responds to leads around the clock. Brons's own agent handles voice first, with web chat, email, SMS and WhatsApp under the same rules.

Estimating

Collision estimating has gone furthest with photo-based AI. CCC's Mobile Jumpstart pre-populates an estimate from damage photos; Repairer Driven News reported in November 2025 that CCC had passed an annualized run rate of one million AI estimates, that the tool cuts estimate preparation from about 30 minutes to under two, and that more than 5,500 repair facilities use its Build Sheets. Mitchell Intelligent Estimating produces estimates from images and vehicle information inside Mitchell Cloud Estimating. Solera's Qapter Intelligent Estimating generates line-by-line body repair estimates in under two minutes.

Voice agents

This is the category where the phone is answered, not just routed. Brons answers every call for independent garages, dealerships, body shops and tire centers, books into the planner with the right job and duration, tells callers when their car is ready and routes breakdowns by the workshop's rules. It is trained on more than 10,000 automotive terms, speaks English, Dutch and German, stores data in the EU or the US, runs a week in shadow mode before going live and is priced from $299 per month on outcomes. Stella Automotive AI offers reception, service scheduling and outbound campaigns for dealerships, integrates with Xtime, CDK, Reynolds and Reynolds and Dealer-FX, and speaks English, Spanish and Canadian French. Numa's Voice AI answers with the caller's vehicle and repair order in front of it and is used by more than 1,400 dealerships according to its site. Brooke.ai, from Proactive Dealer Solutions, answers inbound service calls and books into Xtime.

How they fit together

Most workshops end up with one system of record, one inspection tool and one thing that answers the phone. The phone tool should write to the system of record rather than sit beside it. Brons writes bookings to Tekmetric, Shopmonkey, AutoLeap, Xtime, Keyloop and CDK, reads repair status from CCC, Audatex and Mitchell, reads every booking back before it is confirmed, and starts standalone with your calendar if you would rather connect later.

Verdict

Pick the tool that fixes the bottleneck you can measure. For most counters that is the phone: the calls that go unanswered are the jobs that go elsewhere.
